Your First Visit

When we invite you in for your first visit to discuss your referral this will be at a time to suit you and you’ll be greeted at the door by the same person you’ve been talking to up to this point. They’ll stay with you throughout your visit, which could take up to one hour. If you want to bring a parent, carer or friend with you, that’s absolutely fine.

Your first visit will typically look like this:

When you arrive please press the buzzer at the bottom of the step (everyone misses this!)

You will then be greeted at the door by one of our friendly and welcoming Key Workers and offered tea, coffee or water before sitting down and having a ‘get to know you’ chat.

Your Key Worker will then go on to discuss your needs and the activities that we offer. During this time they will explain about membership and how to book on our activities.

There will be time for you to ask any questions

You will then be offered a tour of the building and introduced to any of the staff team that may be on site.

Once you have decided if this is the place for you and we offer activities that you would benefit from, we will give you a membership form, newsletter and booking form for you to take home with you.

You don’t have to make a decision there and then and may wish to go away and think about things. You can then contact your Key Worker at a later date to tell them of your decision.

Your first visit is now over and the rest is up to you. We all hope that you will join us to have some great new experiences and make new friends. We really do hope to see you soon.

Here’s a tour of our I AM Autism premises (formerly known as ASGMA) at 1114, Chester Road, Stretford, Greater Manchester. Here, you can meet some of our wonderful staff, and also see what we’ve done to make your visit safe and enjoyable.
