Ready to make a real difference in 2026? I AM Celebrating Autism is looking for enthusiastic, caring volunteers to help build community, support autistic individuals, and bring positive change across Greater Manchester. Whether you’ve got a few hours a week or just a little time to give, your skills, energy, and passion can make a lasting impact – and you’ll be part of something truly meaningful.
Hey everyone – we’re kicking off 2026 with purpose, heart, and you in mind.
At I AM Celebrating Autism, we’re all about community – not as a buzzword, but as the lifeblood of everything we do. From supporting autistic individuals and their families across Greater Manchester to building spaces where people feel seen, heard, and belong, we’ve relied on the power of great people showing up. And now we’re calling YOU to join us.
Why We Need You
We’re a small charity with big ambitions. Volunteers aren’t just “helpers” – they’re part of the I AM family, bringing energy, ideas, warmth, and everyday skills that make a real difference. Volunteers have been giving their time with us for months, years, and even decades – and every single one has built meaningful connections along the way.
Whether you’ve always wanted to give back, are passionate about autism support, or just want to try something new – there’s a place for you here. No rigid CVs, no thick forms, no gatekeeping – just enthusiasm, kindness, and a willingness to help.
What You Could Do
We’ve got a variety of roles to suit different skills and interests – and we’d love for you to be part of building our volunteer team. Here’s a glimpse of the opportunities available with I AM:

Handy Person
Got a knack for fixing things, gardening, painting walls, or tinkering? We have so many projects waiting for your skills – and yes, brew and biscuits provided.
Minibus Driver
Fancy a day out with purpose? Drive our mini‑bus on group outings – help make memories for our members and get out yourself.
Group Activities Helper
Simple but essential – help brew teas, set up activities, wash up, tidy away, cheer people on, or manage logistics at social get‑togethers. Even organising costumes for annual Halloween parties.
Helpline Volunteer
Be the friendly voice on the line. With training and support from our team, you’ll help people find answers, support, or even just conversation when they need it.
And that’s just the start – if you’ve got a skill, we want to talk to you.

Digital, AI & Systems Support
Help us work smarter by supporting simple digital tools, admin systems, or automation that reduces paperwork and frees staff up to focus on our members.
Data, Impact & Information Support
Help us organise information, track engagement, and understand the impact of our work – vital for improving services and securing funding.
Fundraising & Business Support
Support grant research, community fundraising ideas, or partnership development to help keep our work sustainable for the long term.

Lived Experience & Co-Production
Autistic people and family members can support us by shaping ideas, reviewing plans, and helping ensure our work reflects real lived experience. Training and support will always be provided.
And that’s just the start – if you’ve got a skill, interest, or idea, we’d love to hear from you.
Who Can Volunteer?
Here’s the best part – we mean it when we say “everyone.”
If you’re 18 or over, you’re welcome – no experience necessary. You don’t need special qualifications – you just need a positive attitude and a willingness to make someone’s day better.
Whether you’ve got a couple hours a week or a couple afternoons a month, we can work with your schedule. No pressure – just possibility.
